Yesterday a woman gave me a watch. I don’t know her name or much about her (I call her “Talkative Lady”), but I see her every weekday in the waiting room at the radiation treatment center. She’s the ex-wife and caregiver of the man I call “Sleepy Guy.”
Anyway, she gave me a watch. I was stunned, humbled and incredibly touched. She told me that she found the watch while she was going through her dresser and thought I might like it, since the band is aqua — the same color as the purse I carry every day and the case on my cellphone.
She told me that she wanted to give me the watch because she appreciated that I always chatted with her, her ex, and the other patients and caregivers, and that I was “always so positive, which makes everyone feel better.”
Mind you, this is not an expensive watch. But for someone who I can tell is in much worse shape financially than I am, it might as well be a Piaget or Rolex.
I made it all the way to my car before I started crying.
You truly never know how your actions, your words, and/or your attitude impact others. That little act of kindness is something I will remember for many days and weeks to come.
May I continue to uplift others as they face difficult days, as many, many people have uplifted me throughout this journey.

You never know how one positive comment will affect somebody’s life. That’s a wonderful story.
