Mother’s Day

MothersDay

Today marks the six-month anniversary of my cancer diagnosis. You know, I probably could have survived these past six months without my mom’s help…but I’m so incredibly grateful that I didn’t have to.

As I understand it, when you become a mom, you “sign up for” lots of hassles — teething, potty training, the Terrible Twos, snooty adolescence, etc.

Taking care of a daughter in her 60’s as she undergoes chemo? I don’t think any mom ever signs up for that.

Over the past six months, my mom has put up with my cranky days, my down days, my achy days, my questioning days, my manic days…you name it. And throughout it all she has never wavered in her love, support and encouragement.

We designate one day each year as “Mother’s Day” to celebrate the amazing woman who brought us into the world. But for me, every day is Mother’s Day because I’m lucky enough to have the most amazing mom ever, and privileged to have her in my life, every day. I know that I can never thank her enough for everything she does for me.

I love you, Doris Rink. Happy Mother’s Day.
